Quick entry. This has been a first entry in a while. The car has gone throught an engine overhaul. I will try to update the modlist on the left with the current mods and update pics. Also, there should be a new vlog coming out sometime in June/July about hopefully racing it. Stay tuned...

Trying to start reposting about my now "Racecar Project". The STi is officially a racetrack only car. Over the summer I've put on new parts on it such as Tein Mono Sport Coilovers, DBA brake rotors along with Ferodo DS 3000 brake pads, also new Bridgestone RE-11A 245/40/17 tires and track based alignment.
For now this setup will allow me to compete in Super Street class which is for stock internals cars with stock injectors/pump etc., stock interior and street 140+ treadwear rated tires.
At the moment the car is already in storage and waiting for next spring to be let out again and hopefully start competing on the road course.
I will be updating the look of this page, new pics and links hopefully coming up in the future. The Mod List on the left is updated and current as of today.

This Monday I have visited Brainerd International Raceway for the third time this year. With new sway bars I was hoping to better my lap times and this is how I've done it:
In the comments of this video I talk about this lap being sloppy etc. which was due to a few factors. First, my tires (Bridgestone RE-11) were on their 4th (and last) track day so I could feel them slipping more than usual. Then brakes, even though pedal didn't go down with the new Motul 600 brake fluid, could feel that pads are working overtime and lose their efficiency only few hard laps in. Time for some brake ducts and better pads...

So I've got couple of updates since my last post.
I did a bit of maintenance on the car and now it sports a brand new Gates Racing timing belt. Of course among other things that was changed along with the timing belt were pulleys, tensioner and water pump. I'm in the process of editing a short video to capture the experience.
Also, I have installed new front & rear Whiteline sway bars. The rear of the car also got treated to a heavy duty rear sway bar mount. Of course none of the aftermarket sway bars should be installed without aftermarket endlinks, in this case, Kartboy. Little post with pictures about my new suspension setup is under the cut.
Finally, I'm getting ready to go to the track. Possibly for the last time this year. Hopefully this new setup will make a difference.

Changed oil today. Filled up full 5 quarts of Amsoil 10W-40 Fully Synthetic. Since the car is going to consume oil regardless (yes turbo) I figured just to get that extra .5 quart up from the required 4.5 quarts for the STi. It's super hot outside so thicker oil is required. For the first time while changing my oil I put in an oil drain plug gasket. Never did it before but I hope now it will be easier to unscrew the plug when I change oil with it installed.

Just finished washing my car in this crazy July heat...
Yesterday, had brake fluid bled and switched to Motul 600. The stock braking fluid had air bubbles since I managed to boil it last track day at Brainerd International. Brakes feel a little more stiff probably due to not having any air bubbles in the lines. Should be much safer next time at the track.
Right now, the videos of my last track day on my YouTube channel youtube.com/vovik05 The video with two laps in a row where I lap 1:59 around the track was the session at the end of which my brake fluid boiled. The other video is of my fastest lap around the track to date (timed at 1:57:86). It was done during a timed session with CWSCC club. It was a lot of fun and that was a lap truly indicative of my car's setup, which is just stage 2 STi with stock suspension. I believe I could grind out 2 more seconds if I really try but no more.
My *Future Mods list on the left <----- changed to accomodate my future plans. Currently my engine mods fell down the list of future mods as I don't feel I lag behind in power around the track. Just going fast in a straight line currently does not interest me. And current setup of around 345hp fully satisfies my need for speed.

I have done a small trial photoshoot the other day. Night pics during rain/fog. Few pictures actually turned out pretty good (surprisingly). Just practicing for the summer when I'll actually wash the car BEFORE taking pictures. :P

Video from September drag at BIR. This was my fastest pass to date, which came out to ET 13.620 @ 102mph.
Not bad for 1212 ft elevation track and major heat soak while waiting in line to drag.
